Michel studied law in Leiden. He was sworn in as a lawyer in 1988 and has since specialized in corporate law, contract law, litigation and employment law. He has been a partner at Schaap Advocaten en Notarissen for many years and joined Langelaar Klinkhamer Advocaten on January 1, 2024 in order to be more of an entrepreneur-lawyer in a smaller and more personal context. Michel regularly writes columns for Accountant.nl in the field of employment law. Michel’s service is personal, decisive and efficient.
In addition to his work as a lawyer, Michel is very socially involved. For example, he is a member of the supervisory board of Stichting Het Babyhuis Dordrecht and Stichting Het Babyhuis Leiden, chairman a.i. of Stichting Beschermde Wieg (Vondelingenkamers) and Stichting Designable, and a member of the disciplinary committee of Hockeyclub Rotterdam (HCR). He is also closely involved with Support Caspar (the fight against pancreatic cancer) and Spieren voor Spieren (children with muscle diseases).
Michel has registered in the following main (and sub) legal areas in the register of legal areas of the Dutch Bar Association: contract law and employment law. Based on this registration, he is obliged to obtain ten training points every calendar year in each registered main legal area in accordance with the standards of the Dutch Bar Association.
